Lorena lives and works in New York City and Los Angeles where she teaches in the Communication Department at Cal Poly Pomona. She studied Studio Art, Communications, and Sociology at universities in Massachusetts, New Mexico, Oregon and New York City. Her general interests are identity in people and place, history and photography's indexical properties.

Lorena's first book, The Michael Jacksons, is an ethnographic monograph on the subculture of Michael Jackson representers in the United States, is available here.
